Mallika Sherawat born as Reema Lamba on October 24th, 1976 in Rohtak District of Haryana in a conservative family. she re-christened her screen name to Mallika , meaning "empress" to avoid confusion with other actresses named Reema. "Sherawat" is her mother's maiden name. She has stated that she uses her mother's maiden name because of all the support her mother has provided for her. She chooses Mallika to feel like queen and Sherawat. Mallika Sherawat's decision of coming in films is still diffcult to digest for his father. He has not forgiven her. But her brother supports her from starting. She believes his support is her strength. Mallika Sherawat has been voted as one of Asia's 100 most beautiful people by the Hong Kong based fashion and beauty magazine, Cover.
